Comedogenic or Acne Cosmetica, is a term used to describe acne caused by the adverse effects of certain cosmetic products. During the last 3-4 decades, there have been lots of revisions in the chemical formulations used in manufacturing cosmetics, which has minimized the instances of Comedogenic conditions. However, many people still prefer to go for Non Comedogenic Makeup in order to eliminate the chances of deteriorating the existing acne, red marks and other skin disorders.
Nowadays, most of the cosmetic compounds, moisturizers and formulations explicitly mention the terms Non Comedogenic and claim that the cosmetic products are free from acne causing chemicals. Many people often do not come to know immediately about the reactions of Comedogenic chemicals, as the symptoms might appear some time especially in certain face makeup, sun lotions, lip products and other cosmetic compounds. That is why, majority of the people especially those who are prone to acne, prefer to use Non Comedogenic Makeup. The best way out is to use the makeup sparingly, do a patch test and try to use natural makeup and cosmetic that do not contain any artificial substances and chemicals.
